Polo Rocks Finals

My heart pounded along with the heavy drum beat that boomed out of those huge  man-size speakers; the bassist pumped up as the song raised its crescendo. They were now getting into the song (or ‘groove’ as my generation  would say); one which Jared had wrote only two weeks ago. I couldn’t help smiling, it was only the 2nd time i was hearing the song. . . it sounded good.. Go Jared!  It had great energy. And I felt good the rush of adrenaline. Whoo hooo!

a christmas story

I would look forward to her visits to clean the pantry and the office premise which we occupied. We were the estate agents for this high tower office block (MSC status) and everyday we would entertain interested parties, .. people with deep pockets, big cars and big egos to match. She was the humble cleaner lady and a breath of fresh air in that stuffy environment. We had some good laughs together. Her name was Shanti, probably in her forties, doing her best to keep her family intact and make ends meet every month.

shampoo instructions - shower revelations

If I give all I possess to the poor and surrender my body to the flames, but have NOT love, I gain nothing.- (1 Cor 3:13), Apostle Paul.

What did you mean Paul? “I have/gain nothing IF I have not LOVE”.

What if I give myself to do missions, give all my time to the church, give all my money, suffer my body .... for the sake of the gospel. I have gained nothing?

The Ogawa girl

My back was aching and she smiled brightly pointing me to their latest model of the massage armchair. Eh, .. why not? My body needs some pampering. She was chatty and wanted to make sure i was enjoying the full range of the different variety of massages the chair has to offer.

Black and White

Being a couple of mixed race marriage, we tend to attract some attention wherever we go and people tend to remember us (I guess) simply because we are different. We are quite used to it and it has provided us with some moments (and laughs) with the people we encounter.

The Quality Copy Centre

The note posted above the copier machine.

The other day I was needing to make some copies of documents and decided to turn Betsy (my car) towards my old taman ( neighborhood ) which is the place I grew up in .. in Section 20, Paramount Garden. There is a half shop operated by an 'auntie' ,

We love because He first love us - the Cinderella story

. USED TO BE AN UGLY CATERPILLAR..

When Cinderella first stepped into the ball (party), she was in her best clothes ever, but she was just one of the gals (hundreds?, I imagine) vying for the attention of the prince. Of course, all she wanted was to enjoy herself and was happy just to be among the crowd.

Labor day weekend@Port Dickson 2009

The sea is just my favorite great place to relax and just chill. I love the smell of the salt air and the feel of fine sand thru my toes. The horizon is a mystery and so also the sea.. I had a chance to be alone out there today, doing my favorite position .. floating in the sea on my back, with eyes closed to the sky.

Missy

Not too long after we moved house to Puchong, we noticed that the huge hill to the left of our place was a haven for wild and stray dogs. They would come out at night and roam in packs, sometimes even willing to challenge the humans taking evening walks. On some nights we can hear the hungry cries of little puppies. One night the cries were incessant and Mike decided to investigate, and found a litter of puppies nestled near a big drain.

Two of them had fallen in. Under the watchful eye ( and possibly growls ) of the mother dog afar, Mike picked them up to where they should have been. After a couple more of such episodes (they kept falling over), he became "friends" with the mother dog (of course, he would sneak out with some food after dinner to give her.. the nursing mother). And so thus began our relationship with Missy (mother dog)

A car story (Part 2) written 09

It is always interesting to read something from the past written in a moment of revelation, but reading my previous post ( penned in 2004, 5 yrs ago) is even more special as Betsy has turned 17 now, and she is still strong and I am cheering her on. She has clocked over 400000 km on the odometer, and all the vital signs are still good.

Seventeen might be the beautiful age for a young girl, but a car that age in KL roads is like ancient . Ha ha I sometimes wonder what my clients think when I drive up to their posh million(s) dollar homes in my Betsy… is that the real estate agent or the contractor ah ? (This proton model is a favorite among contractors bcos they are such good hardy cars!)  You know people form immediate impressions and conclusions and that’s how people are…interesting .

A car story (written in 04)

As I began my morning shower, I peeked out of my bathroom window to my car on the road parked outside. I was wondering how the leak into the boot would hold up from the night’s heavy rain. I had fixed the persistent leak yesterday, and was anxious to see how it would do.

My faithful Proton car, now getting on in her years (12 years now) would naturally require more attention and repairs. And I was pondering maybe, just maybe it was time to trade in for a later model.

But I found myself resisting the idea, not because I didn’t like to drive a newer model, or because of the economics, but I had .. a strange relationship with this faithful car which has seen me through the years. Each time I fixed up the car I seemed to love and appreciate it even more. It’s like I have a special bonding with this old car. A strange thing… fork out money to fix the car and then seemed to delight more in her.

As I was left wondering .” what is it about me that delights in fixing up broken things”
