We love because He first love us - the Cinderella story

. USED TO BE AN UGLY CATERPILLAR..

When Cinderella first stepped into the ball (party), she was in her best clothes ever, but she was just one of the gals (hundreds?, I imagine) vying for the attention of the prince. Of course, all she wanted was to enjoy herself and was happy just to be among the crowd.

But when Prince Charming ( ?) sets his eyes on her, suddenly she had the attention of the Prince. Suddenly, she was no longer a “ fair maiden-wannabe” servant girl, enjoying her only night out; she held the gaze of the one desired by many.

And the Prince, in all his royal worth, whose eyes were set on this one, elevated the status of Cinderella from ordinary to that of "royal worth". The love of the Prince caused her to feel his royal worth poured upon her; at that moment, she was no longer ‘ordinary’.

The lofty position and status (worthiness) of the One who loves her now elevates her to that same position.

We take on the identity of the One we belong (betrothed) to…

Many today think self worth should be a reflection of how “perfect” we are; the more perfect we think we are, the more self esteem we (should) have. But on this note, we are setting ourselves to be chasing after our tails… cos we are never ‘perfect’ enough.

(actually low self esteem is linked to fear which is product of rejection - past and present but that's another topic.)

Our true self esteem is realized, when we can receive the acceptance and the love of a God who is himself All-Worthy, and who loves us in all our ‘imperfectness’.

The love of the King of kings, poured on a humble man gives him that sense of worth which he otherwise will never experience outside of himself … not even from all the trappings this world has to offer.

It is the love and acceptance of God who sets us free from the baggage that bind us. Actually, it is not too far fetched to say that the love and acceptance of God will break the ugly ‘hang ups’ we have of ourselves, makes us free and whole.

When I first encountered the unconditional AGAPE love of God (some 23 years ago), it broke me down cos I felt the weight of all my previous misadventures and deliberate shunning against such a loving God. But, His love was never condemning, no, on contrary it was inviting me to sup (commune) with Him. I felt for the first time …complete…yeah think that’s the word. Like my being clicked into place.

In Christ Jesus, you have become a royal son/daughter of the God Most High.**

And He has paid the ultimate betrothal price for us.

The Prince’s love for Cinderella melted away all the injustice suffered by her.

It restored her and set her free

to become who she really was…

someone of royal stature,

whose beauty

only now begins to manifest

under the sunshine of his love.

( the beginning of a real fairy tale )

.btw the One who holds the whole world in His hand has a wardrobe full of glass slippers and He has your size too…
