Going to the barber with Dad was not always fun during my single digit years, but always intriguing. My dad would take me to the local Indian barber (from India) down the street.

Every so often there comes an unexpected scene, an event/a moment that captures a profound meaning, for no other plausible reason except that it DOES(!) .. cos it hits you there and etches in the annals of your mind.

when I'm sixty four ..
So I decided to pay a visit to one of my high school classmates over at his house recently. His mother (probably in her 80s) was quite happy to see me and so I decided to sit and chat with her in her living room. Quick witted, funny and insightful, I have always enjoyed my conversations with her ...

Money money money
My mum and dad discovered a ‘bonus’ few days ago .. a stash of RM200 found while clearing the house of unwanted items (quite a challenge to clear the clutter equalling a combined age of 177 yrs).

Mattress Matrix
Last night was a restless night. The mattress just didn’t support very well and I remember the whole night was all about trying to find the “least” uncomfortable position on this make shift bed on the floor. Kong Fu Chow Yee mee

Tell you ... it taste much better than you think...hahahaa |
thicker than normal and fried over a 'hot wok' first with some burnt stains on it for right texture, and then the gravy poured over it so the noodle maintains its ‘chewiness’ as it soaks in it. The consistency of the gravy combines well with the yee mee. A certain ‘roughness’ in the palate unlike the smooth hor-fan noodle. Not forgetting the leafy pieces of plain pak choy (vege) which breaks the stream of tasty flavors in your mouth…hmnn. The little pieces of ‘che yok’ (pork) make its perfect, and of course the occasional prawn(s)/sotong hidden somewhere beneath.
( special condiment... green chili in soy sauce/vinegar of course..adds to this delightful combination)
Rm6.00 per serving (yeah man its high but worth every sen)
Location: SS2 (formerly known as chow yang)
Thinking of heading over there soon….
