black outs are fun.

Today an occasional black out doesn’t seem so bad after all. We get a chance to just sit around, chill and connect with ourselves again . And hey, a candle lit dinner too ... if TNB times it right. .

When I was a kid growing up in the back streets of Sentul,
black out were fun times and they happened quite often too. We get the chance to walk around in total darkness while the adults went looking for the candles, torch lights, kerosene lamps etc etc. We would help get all the candles set up (turning the lit candle at an angle and letting the liquid wax drip onto the lid of a tin and setting the base of the candle onto the puddle of wax, waiting for it to ‘cement’).

And when it is all done, we get to just sit around a lit candle ...

.. and enjoy the moment with the loved ones around us.

No distractions (homework) TV, no radio, nothing .. just a human connection with each other. ( I imagine how cave men did).

Every now and then we should take an impromptu break from the incessant 'chatter' going on all around us and just enjoy the quiet. This time around, I had a fresh take on the relevance o Ps 46:10. (Be still and know that I am God).

So TNB ..  next time maybe you wait till I get out of the loo first.
